Season Overview: Hatherleigh’s A Grade got very close to ending their nine-year premiership drought when they made the 2022 Mid South East grand final. The Eagles had a strong second semi-final win against Kalangadoo and would have been confident going in to the grand final against the Magpies two weeks later. Kalangadoo proved to be a bit too strong in the rematch as the conditions on their home deck suited them a bit more than they did Hatherleigh. The Magpies did their damage in the second quarter and the Eagles couldn’t recover to get over the line. The Eagles had a successful season other than winning the flag. Sam Telfer also achieved an amazing individual feat during round 12 against Robe when he kicked 21 goals in the game. Brad Mitchell, Mark Marriot, Jack Skeer, Michael Telford and Jordan Galpin had great consistent seasons and were rewarded with being named in the 2022 Mid South East Team Of The Year. The Eagles will be determined to keep the core of the team together and add a few quality recruits and go again in 2023.

The Eagles also achieved the feat of becoming the only Mid South East Football League team to achieve the feat of four flags in a row in any grade. Hatherleigh have great depth in the senior squad and will be looking at keeping the premiership run going as long as they can. The team has a good mixture of younger players and quality veterans that get the job done each week. The strive for five will be strong in 2023.

Season Overview: What a great season by the Eagles senior colts. Hatherleigh finished second while recording just two losses during the home and away season. Both losses were against Robe by the margins of 22 and 60-points respectively. The Eagles flipped the script in the finals against Robe as they took control of their second semi-final match up after half time to record a victory. In the grand final, the Eagles again guts out a hard-fought low scoring victory in wet conditions to take home the 2022 premiership. Harvey Jones had an amazing season in which he won the league goal kicking award and was also the joint Player of The Year with Tantanoola’s Ellis Cushion.

Season Overview: Hatherleigh’s junior colts again had another good season as the club usually has strong colts every season. The young Eagles had some good wins this year and made it all the way to the preliminary final, but couldn’t get past a strong Glencoe team. The Eagles did have some success in winning a final as they beat Port Macdonnell in the 1st semi-final. The strong and deep list will no doubt be their next season again, whether they go up a grade or not. The Eagles will be ready for 2023.
